WHO SAID CRIME DOESN’T PAY?
If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime. Never has a truer word been said. But with that in mind, how is it that thieves and robbers are being punished with lower fines than those issued to speeders and illegal parkers?
The absurd figures released by the ironically named Ministry of Justice revealed that in one year, magistrates handed an average fine of £47 to muggers compared to the £120 spot fine issued for minor parking infringements in the capital (£70 outside) and a £60 penalty for speeders.
With a general election just around the corner, is the Government actually surprised they have a voting crisis on their hands when injustice such as this prevails? In 2008, the figure stood at £75 – but this was still, in real terms, a third lower than when Labour came to power in 1997.
But the money isn’t the real issue here. It’s the fact that minor traffic offences such as speeding can accumulate to become a life sentence for some. With a clean driving license essential for most employers today, don’t let ‘blind justice’ decide your fate.
The system doesn’t always work and with my help, we can prove that.
