Why the CPS don't always work in the publics best interests

A man who failed to reply to a notice of intended prosecution because the Police sent it to the house where his wife had been murdered just 4 months before was being comforted today after the Crown Prosecution’s case to convict him collapsed seconds after it opened.

Quite why the case ever made it to court is a mystery to almost everybody but the CPS who seem to have a decidedly warped moral compass these days when it comes to deciding what is in the publics good.

Surely, anyone with an ounce of compassion would have understood the pain and grief associated with revisiting a house where a loved one was lost so recently, and in such circumstances.

Not only was this case insensitive and possibly even vindictive, it was also a complete waste of public finances. At a time when this country is considering remortgaging itself way beyond its means it would be comforting to know that the Crown Prosecution Service was keeping its powder dry for a much worthier victim.
